Senior DevOps Manager

Responsibilities

Mainspring has a high-impact opportunity to lead the DevOps team responsible for ensuring that production systems are operational, CI and development systems work for the Engineering team, and new Linear Generators can be deployed successfully and efficiently. The manager will need to have domain expertise in DevOps, Build Systems, and Site Reliability Engineering, in addition to a passion for leading and growing a high-performance team.

This is a management role within the Software team. As a leader in the organization, you will:

  • Build, maintain, and lead a team of Build, DevOps, and Site Reliability engineers that produce excellent work products and are a joy to work with

  • Drive and implement reliable, efficient, secure, and scalable solutions for improving and maintaining product infrastructure in GCP and AWS as well as the computer network within the Linear Generator.

  • Maintain a secure platform (both from intrusion and IP loss)

  • Work with project delivery teams to define and implement site-specific network configurations

  • Deliberately manage technical debt and balance its future cost against the value of new capabilities

  • Help the team choose tools to increase productivity

  • Create project roadmaps and allocate resources

  • Lead team activities such as planning, retrospectives, code reviews, daily stand ups, etc.

  • Critically, you should enjoy doing these things collaboratively as part of a tightly coupled and highly interactive team

Qualifications

  • Proven success leading teams using IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible, operating in a cloud environment such as GCP or AWS

  • Passion for and success in hiring and managing teams of engineers

  • Able to be an effective/respected individual to perform hands-on tasks when required

  • BS in computer science or other related engineering field

The Bay Area salary for this role is $180k-$220k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
